Welcome to emu house

Our organization’s purpose is to provide education, resources and emu rescue. Since we are a public charity, all who own emu and need help and those who are interested in learning more about emu are welcome. The ethical treatment of emu is always top on our list. We are based in the Hudson Valley, NY however, as we grow, so will our outreach to other areas.

We are a 501 (c) (3) Public Charity, IRS public charity status 509 (a)2. Tax ID 99-1338804. Since we are funded by donation, there are many ways to help us to help emu, emu farmers and those who own emu. There is no membership however, those who sell emu based products may contact us to apply to use our ethically sourced seal on their products for a donation.

Donors can deduct contributions under IRC section 170. We are also qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts under Section 2055, 2106, or 2522.

Emu House, Inc was a dream for many years and finally, on February 13, 2024 we were awarded our non profit status by the IRS!
